I visited your west Hartford store at opening on Thursday morning to purchase hiking shoes. I was assisted by a woman working in the shoe department. I chose a pair of light blue Solomon hiking shoes and she told me they were women’s shoes. I was confused because I got them in the men’s section. After another look she realized they had the same color/style in both. I decided in that moment that I no longer wanted those and asked for a different pair. She seemed taken aback and mumbled something under her breath as she walked past my wife who was coming over to join me. When she came back I asked if something was wrong and she said right to me face that I was being misogynistic, dropped the shoes and walked away. I decided to leave before I lost my composure. While leaving she mumbled something under her breath again. Everyone else in that store was extremely friendly otherwise but there’s no way I’m buying $165 shoes from someone like that. I’d look into this if I were you because you definitely lost my business. I found shoes across the street at west farms mall.

Only reason to the missing 1 star is that I've been here a couple times now, and the staff are just extremely...arrogant is the best way to describe them. Before I go more into that, REI has a nice selection of hiking equipment and I probably will only come here for hiking gear. Store closes way too early, it's always busy 30 minutes prior to closing on the weekdays. WARNING - SHOES / BOOTS are simply never in stock at all apparently. Back to the staff, a lot act like they know best and can't be bothered answering questions fully. It's as if they just want you to leave. Asked for a pair of boots to try on, came back not once, but twice with the wrong boot, to only find out they had zero in stock (just tell me without bringing me entirely different style boots). Employee was being entirely rude (sighing & rolling eyes) to a non American (thick heavy accent from their country) family looking to try shoes on. Either way, I'll still shop here, just wish the staff weren't like that.

Went into store to shop and had our two dogs with us as we have several times before and never had any issues but now all of a sudden an employee says we must leave if we cannot provide proof of our dogs being service animals. “Connecticut …

It was refreshing to have a person like Tricia help me pick out a new pair of sneakers. Very knowledgeable, friendly. You're a great human being! It has been a long time since I've had a great experience in a retail store. …

I don't know if there are employees monitoring here, I would call.
Yes it opens April 27th.
They are very well set up. Lots of hand sanitizer available and the employees are well masked. Their shoe department is sectioned of so only four customers at a time can try on shoes. They have plexiglass at the registers. Honestly, it's the best setup in a retail environment I've seen so far. I felt completely comfortable there.
You probably have to contact them directly
Also announced via email if you sign up for their updates/classes/sales.
Place is closed, and empty. Going out of business or moved ?
