water meter started to drip & leak over the weekend. city offered to come out sunday night but it wasn't urgent so waited until monday. the person that came out was super professional and fixed the issue very quickly (seal had gone bad under the meter). excellent service!

Contact the water dept (they're active 24/7 so call them anytime) and they'll send a worker to turn your water service off at the street for free. Costs $40 for them to turn it back on.
No. The only time you need the water on is if someone is living in the house. Otherwise it can stay off at the curb until then. When ready to have the service turned on, contact the City of Syracuse Department of Water to set up an appointment after getting the water bill information in your name.
