The staff here are sure to let you know your visit was an inconvenience. Especially in the mental health sector. The receptionists are very unhelpful and irritable.

The nurse was so nice and was very helpful with getting my travel vaccines (and telling me where to go for the ones they couldn't do).

Questions & Answers

When will the coronavirus vaccine be available to people with preexisting conditions? How do I make an appointment?

The COVID-19 is not yet available to the general public in Johnson County, KS. At this time, in following the state’s plan, DHE is only vaccinating health care-associated workers, EMS and public health staff who are eligible in Phase 1A. People who live and work in nursing homes are receiving the vaccine via the Pharmacy Partnership for Long-term Care (LTC) Program. Essential workers and people age 75 and older will be the next round eligible for the vaccine. We will move on to this group when Phase 1A is complete. Those who are in a lower-risk category will most likely get vaccinated in late spring/early summer. These timelines are subject to change and will depend on vaccine availability from the federal government. There is no list for the general public to sign up for a COVID-19 vaccine, no matter the age or medical condition of the person. Announcements about vaccine availability will be made on our website, in our daily COVID-19 e-newsletter, through the media/social media.

At this time, we are only vaccinating health care workers who are eligible in Phase 1 in Johnson County. We expect this phase to last for another month or longer before we can move on to Phase 2 (essential workers/people over age 65). We recommend you contact the Lawrence/Douglas County Health Department to find out their vaccination plans for the general public.

Thank you for contacting us, but the Department of Health and Environment does not regulate this matter. We suggest contacting the Department of Labor or OSHA: https://www.osha.gov/. You may even try contacting the Codes Department at the city the employees are working in.
