Recently moved into an apartment complex that uses BPU and set up auto draft payments. For some reason, they haven't been taking the auto draft payments out of my account even though the bill says not to pay due to auto payments. As a result, today they disconnected my service for a past due balance. I have been trying to get ahold of a person at customer service for hours and can't get a real person to answer to find out what the issue is or why they haven't been taking out the payments automatically. I also haven't been able to get my service restored.

Too high bills. Two years ago we would get bills around $300 and now we are getting in $500 line even tho we been using same amounts of water and electricity..

Check if you have a smart meter outside.... If it is a smart meter they can trigger it remotely, so should kick on within the hour.... Water they have to go on-site to turn it on so that may take a little longer.
We are aware of the issue and have alerted our billing department. The bills have been reprinted and were reissued June 25th.
They say it will take 2 hours. But sometimes the services will be restored in 15 minutes. My lights were off Tuesday. Fifteen minutes later my lights were back on.

The Customer Service Lobby is open Tuesdays and Thursdays until 7:00 pm.

Certain Unified Government-related fees and surcharges have recently increased for county/city residents. It may explain the change. If you're a current customer and need to transfer services, you can do so through your BPU online account. Visit BPU.com and select 'Manage My Account'. After you log in, go to the 'Utility Services' tab and in the drop-down menu you will see 'Transfer Utility Service'.
Although trash and recycling services fees appear on our bill, they are actually provided by the Unified Government of Wyandotte County Public Works division. They can be reached by calling 3-1-1.
