We came during a very busy concert weekend. Check-in took about half an hour but there were five people working check-in and an assistant manager supervising the process. I’m not really sure how to expedite it more than they’ve tried. The same thing was true of the valet line at check-out. They did charge $35 a night for valet but allowed people to go grab a late breakfast/lunch and come back later instead of waiting for an hour, that was nice. I feel like $35 for valet is a reasonable rate in a large city. We were on the 22nd floor with a river view that was wonderful. The front desk people and assistant manager went out of their way to be accommodating and friendly. They were truly some of the nicest staff I’ve encountered worldwide. The only reason why I am not rating it a 5 star is because the carpet in our room was absolutely atrocious. It looked dirty and full of stains. The rest of the room was very clean, including the bed. Unlike other guests, I thought the bed and the air-conditioning were both comfortable.

Don’t think, just book! After searching the downtown Detroit area for an affordable hotel, we took our chances with this one and are glad we did! Early check-in/out, 24 hour gym, hot tub, pool and sauna (open until 11pm), multiple restaurants and bars inside the hotel! Pleasantly surprised as the sauna and hot tub weren’t listed online! The building is beautiful, classic and historical with photography of its history hanging on the walls. The room was nice, clean and had a great view. The bathroom a bit small but nothing significant enough to take away from the rating. The Qline was a 1 minute walk that took us all over Detroit for under a dollar. Mandatory valet parking was $35 but was in and out (other hotels nearby you couldn’t go in and out!) and much better than the random parking areas downtown. This hotel was hundreds of dollars cheaper than others nearby and we couldn’t be happier with our experience. Highly recommended and satisfied!

The customer service is horrible! It's a 35 dollars fee to park a vehicle while staying at the hotel. That fee should be included in the room prices. On the day of check-in, it took over two hours to check-in. I called guest service to bring me a comforter and I didn't receive it. The next day I tried to take a hot shower and there was no hot water. I had to call guest service twice to get maintenance to our room. When maintenance came he gave some excuse as to why there was no hot water at the time. I have not even stayed in a hotel and the hot water went out. After waiting over two hours there still was no hot water. When I went to check out of the hotel I spoke with guest service and no one apologize for the inconvenience. This place doesn't deserve any STARS due to the lack of customer service skills. I wish I would have read the reviews before booking my stay at this hotel.

Beautiful hotel, nice location, and I really enjoyed the breakfast. But unfortunately when we checked into our hotel room, I checked the beds (as I always do), and there was hairs on the bed that did not belong to me, I then called front desk and informed them what I had seen and politely asked if they could just come change my sheets, I was told they would send somebody asap to change them for me, waited a few hours nobody came so I called again and they informed me they were very busy and they would send somebody as soon as they could. Waited up until about 12AM, and finally decided to just strip the bed myself and slept on a mattress with my coat as a blanket. I have worked in Housekeeping and this is very unacceptable. Checked out that morning and explained to the front desk what had happened and all they had to say was " I'm sorry about that "

I enjoyed my stay. Staff was nice and attentive. The room was clean and more than adequate.I felt safe. I'm from Chicago, so I'm not frightened easily. The hotel is in close proximity to most attractions and smack dab in the middle of downtown Detroit and near the river. It's in the middle of a metropolitan city so sh!t happens sometimes. Be aware of your surroundings as you should where ever you go, and enjoy yourself.
I agree with the other 2 responses about using parking garages outside of the hotel.
