We frequently go to the Pico/Robertson area when we visit Southern California. We typically spend one Shabbos in Palos Verdes, and my wife likes to pick up food items from places like Schwartz's Bakery. The food always has been, including this review, very good. That is not the problem. The problem is, it seems as if the proprietor doesn't seem to be happy with the retail side of his business. In my opinion, he ought to shut down the retail and focus on wholesale, unless he is willing to keep the retail clean and beautiful. Also, this seems to be one of those businesses that the father built up and the son destroyed. Great food, but unfortunately not good service. On this last order, we placed it plenty in advance. It was supposed to be ready when we arrived. It was not ready. Not only was it not ready, the response when we came in the front door was completely unsympathetic after realizing that it was not there. He said, " I'll have it ready and here in ten minutes". We came back one hour later, it wasn't there. Turns out it was delivered to the Robertson location. Question is, why didn't he wonder why it never showed up to the Pico location after the 10 minutes he said it would? So we show up and it's not there. He panics and says give me 10 more minutes, and he goes to pick it up at the Robertson location and bring it back. Bottom line, didn't care about the customer enough to think about the customer I've noticed that this business seems to have really fallen off the cliff over the past 10 years. So sad. Like the fall of Kmart and the Rise of Walmart, some of these good things come to an end. I think we'll be trying Eilat bakery from now on. I really wish it hadn't come to this. We really enjoyed Schwartz's bakery.

Decent baked goods. Great challah and babka. Interior is very dated and worn and in need of a refurbishment.

Awful and way too expensive. I bought 3 items for $15 and threw away 2 after the first bite. I don't like to waste food which was the only reason I ate the 3rd item.
