Yes you can try them and there is someone to help you with tailoring
If you are thinking of a tux, the general rule is that you will want to wear it at least 3 times a year. The reason is that we men, as we get older, tend to, um, change in size. A tux you wear only once or twice a year may not fit long enough to make it a cost effective purchase. Also, rentals usually come with all the other accessories included, whereas they would need to also be bought with a purchased tux.
You should probably call the store direct since they may now be stocking Spring/Summer.
