Stayed there as a volunteer for a month. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Nice communal spaces that make you feel at home. Also close to the bus stop and a few shops. It is only a twenty minutes walk to go downtown.

Made reservation in January 2022 for April check in. I was on the 16-day trip before check-in and messaged the morning of as well as tried to call but the voicemail went on and on and on. Owner lives out of state I was told I get to town I need help with directions no one answers the phone. I finally find the place there's no sign. The kitchen is dirty also be aware they're very steep steps to climb and no banister and it's a twisting stairwell so just be prepared for that. Pros: Close to bus route, good spice collection Cons: No signage out front, or steep twisting stairs NO rail/ banister, ( safety)no check in process or person to formally greet me, sheets paper thin and worn, ill-fitted mattress, dust bunnies under bed, no garbage can in room. No heat in hallway or bathroom.Mini blinds had gaps in front of shower on 3rd floor, sign showing filtered water, I'm an RN so look under sink water filter dated.....11/ 2019???? No oven access per fire department. Yeah it's cheap, ghetto loud music neighborhood, but a place to sleep, so for those than don't care, can wing it and or bring your own, go for it!

This place truly is a gem in Providence! It embodies the warmth and character hostels should exude. I'd like to personally thank Naïma and John for their hospitality. Unfortunately, I was only in town for one night to see Lewis Black, but I hope to find more reasons to visit Providence and I know exactly where I'll be staying when I do.

During the pandemic, I needed a place to stay for three months, and the Providence Hostel & Guest House was a wonderful place for me settle. The owner, Alina, was extremely gracious and allowed me to rent a room for a very affordable rate. The hostel’s volunteer, Bridget, was also very accommodating - she always kept a clean and welcoming environment. Additionally, I worked remotely from the hostel as a teacher, and Bridget was always mindful of my needs during my work sessions. The location of the hostel was conveniently centralized, which made it easy to walk to grocery stores, the library, and downtown destinations - such as the mall and various restaurants. Alina and Bridget provided a wonderful and cozy space when I really needed it, and I appreciate their hospitality very much. I would highly recommend staying at the Providence Hostel, for anyone finding themselves in Providence – either short term or for an extended stay. Thank you!
