I was a client at DH back in January of 2022. I have read some of the reviews of this treatment center and reluctantly have to agree with some of the disparaging comments made by some of the unsatisfied customers, yet I still give this place five stara because at the end of the day they are responsible for not only saving my life, but helping me create one worth living. I was only supposed to be at DH for a week. Yes, the rep on the phone lied to me about the time frame to get me on a plane. I ended up staying four months and cried the day they told me I had to leave because as it turned out I needed every single moment of not just therapy, but love and healing that happens at destination hope, a type of rejuvenation that I have never seen the likes of anywhere else. The therapists, the bhts, nursing, support staff, right down to the cleaning crew all played an intregal part in my recovery. Ms. Lystra and her family programming helped resuscitate what I thought was a dead relationship between me and my mother. And when I say I am still sober today ONlY by the grace of God and techs like Miss Danielle, I promise you those are facts. So no we didn't get to go to the beach every day ( although we did go from time to time) but if that's your main concern when looking for life saving treatment, please forgive me for saying you aren't ready and probably wouldn't have gotten sober at any facility you went to. And yes, dh does make it virtually impossible to AMA. THANK GOD....if they let me leave every time I wanted to who knows where I'd be today....not sober....maybe not even alive. Today i am sober since leaving Dh. I have a sponsor, a home group sober, supports friends and family who love me and want me around them. I am employable. I have a job where I am trusted and relied upon and most importantly I am a mother to my children. Dh helped me achieve that by making decisions for me that I was incapable of making for myself at the time and for loving me back to health even when I wasn't very lovable. The only thing I had to do was humble myself enough to admit I didn't have it all figured out. Dh and God took care of the rest.

The Counselors adamantly ask you for a phone number of a family member so they can call and tell them how much "bad shape" you are in and basically that you are going to die. They do this as a sales tactic so they will have you stay more months. I gave them my friend's number and he was so worried about me and thought I was going to die when I talked to him later. Mostly 20's something year olds there from drugs using Mommy and Daddy's money.

I was at Destination Hope from Feb 1st to April 26th and overall the experience was worth it. You get out of it what you put into it. The food is awesome. The therapist Andrew at PHP is awesome. Outings every Sunday when you get to PHP is nice. You get to church by the glades which rocks and either the beach, bowling, movies, or the park. Once you get to PHP after completing main you go to outside meeting 3 x a week. The staff is overall very caring and serious about your recovery. Just please buy in to doing a complete 180 if you go or don’t even go in the first place . Cheers!
