We have been here over the years to see the monarch butterflies. Bummed that there were no butterflies. It’s a nice easy hike though there are tree trunks that obstruct the trail that we had to climb over.

JESSE ILDEFONSO | Sep 18, 2019

You'll see little to none at this time. Best times to visit are Nov. - Feb. Also a lot of the trails are closed due to tree health (dead trees falling).

What time of year is the best time to go?

mimi cotton | Sep 18, 2019
Adam Apps | Sep 18, 2019

Between November and February. We've been there a week ago this year. It looks pretty slow already. But again it was a rainy day. Maybe you'll have a better luck 😁

Are they here yet?

Oz Me | Sep 18, 2018

I was there last week. Local told me it was too soon which jives with my March visit two years ago. FYI, it's officially closed due to falling diseased trees. And though the locals are using the trails, it's looking devastated.

joseph hopkins | Sep 18, 2018

Many rvs parked in the day-use lot, but I'm fairly certain no overnight camping is allowed there. I do know that there are camping/rv sites in the local area.
