Beautiful Baptist Church in downtown Wilmington, NC. The pastor is a wonderful orator and the message is beautifully presented to the congregation.

You will not learn doctrine here. I have been attending services here for over a year with my friend who has been a member for almost 18 years and have found the services seem to be organized by emails and texts. The church is VERY disorganized. The service times are constantly changing. My friend enjoys going to Sunday school, but never knows if it's going to happen until they get to church. Also, the Sunday School has no leader so it is hit or miss, if there will be a lesson. Some previous First Baptist members who had left during covid had invited us to a service at their church. The preaching was very good and and the one thing that stood out to my friend about it was that she ""learned something". The new pastor has a pleasant smile and can speak eloquently, but his personal views of scripture will not align with most Southern Baptist members. I would STRONGLY encourage you to have a personal conversation with him as I have done TWICE now. If you are direct in your conversation, it will not take long to discern where he deviates from more traditional views. One of the support pastors preached a great message about trusting God with everything, then they tell everyone how fearful to be of COVID? They also didn't open the church for a whole year, even though they were allowed to. How can the church leadership tell me to walk in faith,, then not model the behavior? I have been to several events to help my friend out and not one staff member ever approached me to welcome me or confirm I was supposed to be there, though they clearly saw me. Time to move on and go elsewhere. There are many more faithful and genuine options.
