What a fun experience. The staff was very nice. We got lost on the way there and showed up very close to closing time. They welcomed us in politely and gave us the run down. It was our first experience and it was great. I highly recommend checking them out.

Had a great time with my daughter on our little mountain day trip. We started the day off with a trip here to the Foggy mountain Gem mine based off proximity to the next destination of the trip. Was not disappointed. Got the motherload bucket because I wanted us to busy for a little while and also get some cool stuff. Was a great investment, we found lots of awesome minerals and gem stones. Also was able to get two cut stones with that bucket at no extra charge. Found some massive corundum rubys and really nice examples of amethyst and other awesome stones. It was awesome for me and my almost grown up daughter to be able to have a bonding moment with a shared interest. I'd recommend this to any family and actually do recommend it to everyone I know .

Foggy Mountain Gem Mine is a wonder family adventure for those who enjoy mining rocks and gems. The staff was very friendly, helpful, and knowledgable. We got a 5 gallon bucket of rocks for a reasonable price and spent over 2 hours working through them. This is a definite visit for anyone interesting in some fun.

1 and 2nd Pictures shows what $120 gets you from this place. The 3rd picture shows what $106 gets from the greater fascoe mining company to the fascoe place only gives you a half bucket when you pay 106$ for a full buck of dirt to mine. At Foggy We got a ton of gemstones and we're very happy We literally walked away with a bag that was at least 6+10 lb full of garnets sapphires emeralds and rubies. And I'm having them cut a couple pieces for jewelry and having a ring made very thrilled to see what that looks like when I get it. I wish they had a faster turnover time for receiving jewelry (6-8 weeks) that they are making custom some other places in town do it in 20 hours for nearly double the price though. I'm very happy with foggy mountain We mined a total of 3 times that foggy and twice at Greater fascoe and Foggy gave you many bigger gems. That is my honest review. Hope it helps 🙂

I have a question about a gem. It's round and it looks like it's covered with iron. What gen would that be?

Shirley Naylor | Jan 6, 2018

Probably a garnett. I am tumbling a bunch of the gems that we got at Foggy Mountain right now and I noticed quote a few garnets in the mix.

Are all of the gems in the buckets mined from the Foggy Mountain location?

Nansi Coe | Jan 6, 2018
Judy Bailes | Jan 7, 2018

No. They are imported from South America. Better quality and the gems are numerous and larger than we have experienced previously.
