Hi Tyler, We are not hiring at the moment, but when a position becomes available we will post it to the major job searching platforms. Make sure to keep an eye out for any future postings!
Hi Michael π Whoever will be digging, or in your case operating the Auger, will need to submit the dig ticket and list themselves as the Excavator on the locate request. If you are submitting your ticket online, you can select the βContractorβ option from the drop down menu.
Hi Francesca, You can check each Utility Operator's response to your ticket by using the Electronic Positive Response system, also known as EPR. Go to https://usanorth811.herokuapp.com/positive_responses/new and enter your ticket number. If the Utility Operator has posted their response to your request, it will be listed on your ticket.
Hi Bob, Our Utilitiy Operators respond to the description that is notated on the dig ticket but when they get out to the jobsite, they also confirm the location with the visual delineation marks left by the person doing the digging. These job site delineations (commonly known as Pre-marks) should be done in white (paint, flags, chaulk, stakes) and should clearly outline your digging area. Here is a graphic with a couple examples on pre-marking: https://usanorth811.org/images/811-Premark-01-01.jpg Here is a Pre-Marking Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LwMd8gNz7EA Hope this helps, please let us know if you have any other questions. -USA North 811

Hi Sean, thanks for your comment! It sounds like it may be the ASR system hearing background noise. Please try calling 811 again and use the push button options with your phone on mute. This should help. Let us know!
Hi Dominick, We have over 1500 different utility members that will locate & mark (or provide info) about their buried utility lines if you are planning an excavation. You may want to reach out to your water provider directly to see if they have any recommendations for your water leak. Please note, if it is a private line and not owned or maintained by the utility, you may have to hire a private utility locating service. Hope this helps, please let us know if you need anything else.
Hi Mandy, Here is a video link to "How to Pre-Mark you excavation site". Let me know if you have any questions. https://youtu.be/0kUtHG8wEiI
You will have to contact PG&E at 800-PGE-5000. USA North 811 is the organization to contact to get underground utility lines located and marked before digging. We are not part of PG&E. Good luck on your project!
Phone reps will need four major streets to box the new subdivion to notify the proper uility companies in the area
Hi Frank, Utility marks and flags serve a vital role in safety while any type of excavation is occurring. These marks indicate the approximate location of buried utilities. If you have marks and flags on your property, give us a call (811) and we check to see if work is occurring near your property.
Hi Miguel. USA North 811 covers all of Northern California, including Sacramento. State law requires utility owners to locate and mark the underground facilities that they own and maintain. For example, the power company will mark the electric cable that provides service to a home up to the power meter that is attached to the home. But if the homeowner has a detached garage and has run power to that garage, the power company would not be required to mark the line feeding the garage because they do not own and maintain it. A similar situation exists with sewer lines. The sewer company typically only owns the sewer main line in the road, while the lateral lines that provide sewer service to individual homes/buildings are not owned or maintained by the sewer company. There are companies that can be hired to locate and mark sewer laterals as well as other underground lines that are not owned by utility companies. You can email ops@usanorth811 and we can give you some names of companies.
Hi Vicki, Each Dig Ticket has a lifespan of 28 calendars day in both California and Nevada. Tickets can be extended an additional 28 calendar days if the work continues. If at any time the markings are no longer visible, you should cease excavation and request a remark for that specific utility. This can be done through our E-Ticket platform or by Calling 811.
