Took the computer test there last month so I can get my license (I’m almost 22). Not sure why I couldn’t take the driving test instead since I already know how to drive and I took drivers ed a few years ago. I wrote down the answers I missed so I can get them next time, but some lady told me to give it to her. All I saw was a sign that said no cell phones, but I wasn’t using one. She’s like “it’s all in the handbook”, but it was just like a handbook I guess, but I couldn’t find the one they gave me. Guess she didn’t want me to pass if she didn’t want me writing down the answers I missed. Oh well, Imma drive with just my ID. I mean I know how to drive and that’s all that matters. Never got into an accident in my life.

It was ok the computer system was down for a bit while but I was taken care of .I was just disappointed that they did not renew my learner's permit for a year.only for month they renewed it for so I have to go back again

You just have to book an appointment. After that, it's all smooth sailing! My wife and I moved here from out of state a few months ago, needed new drivers licenses. We got in and out in 14 minutes - have a new Real ID coming in the mail soon. All the DMV workers were quick and helpful - shocking compared to other DMVs my wife and I have tried in the Raleigh/Durham area. Kind of a drive for us, but I definitely recommend!

You can just get your drivers license. The permit should be optional.

You have to go down to the next month, when a date is available the calendar will pop up and let you choose the date. If all dates are gray and it won't let you select that is because no dates are available for that month.
You would have to have an appointment, if it doesn't let you make the appointment call the number on the site to make it or if you have the paper from the DMV itself it should have a number

Had the same problem. You can get online to get an appointment which I did. They were booked for 6 weeks but on the appointed day, it was efficient.
Yes it's by appointment only. They are Efficient and my appointment lasted less than 10 minutes in total.

You have to be 15 for a regular learner's permit. Drivers education has to be completed before you can get a permit unless you are 18. To get a CDL permit you have to have a NC license and be 18.

This would depend on his class of immigration. Generally he would need a Permanent Resident Card or an Employment Authorization Card. There are many other forms based on different classes of admission.
It's helpful, but you do not have to have it as long as it's an NC license and you know your social security number.
