Hi Merelyn, If you notice ice forming anywhere on your AC system, your first step must be to shut it off. It’s important to let your system defrost before any further inspection or repairs can be done. Once it has thawed, check to ensure your filter is clean and that there are no obstructions or debris around or inside the unit. If your unit freezes up again after cleaning and turning it back on, you will need to call for repairs. I hope this answers your question!
You can check the filter and insure it’s clean, also you can make sure the indoor and outdoor unit are running, on the outdoor unit if it’s running you can pull back the insulation just a little and see if the pipe is cold (the bigger pipe it’s called the suction line) If it’s not cold call HVAC service tech and please don’t do anything that involves electrical or anything regarding refrigerant you could severely hurt yourself or worse, if the filter is clean and the pipe is not cold or sweating call an HVAC technician
