I lived four hours away from this shelter at the time when I adopted my pup. They were so kind and selfless about caring for the animals. They waited until I could make it after work and even stayed late for me to let me bring home my dog that day. They take in the best dogs and cats to give them a second chance when no one else will and they train and care for them in their lovely facility. They really care about all their animals and about getting them good homes. I tried to adopt from multiple rescues in the past and this was the only one where I was treated like a person instead of a number and the only one that really prioritized giving the dogs a good home over anything else. My dog is happy as can be and settled in right away thanks to all the advice from their trainers on how to help her. Couldn't recommend more.

I have been looking to potential add a dog to my family, but ultimately decided that it was not the right time now. The staff at Blue Ridge Humane society were kind and able to answer all of my questions. It sounded like they provided a lot of support after the adoptions as well.

I love my beautiful kitten I just adopted.

We vaccinate all animals adopted through us. We also hold monthly wellness clinics that are open to the public. Visit our website for more information. https://www.blueridgehumane.org/community-services/low-cost-clinics/
Our website is always up to date. Once an animal is available we post them and once they are adopted we remove them from the site. You can submit an adoption application right on our website as well. Visit www.blueridgehumane.org to see what cats we have available.
We currently have a position open and you can always check our website for current opportunities to join our team: https://www.blueridgehumane.org/about-us/employment-opportunities/
Hi there! We don't currently have any ferrets and haven't for a while. Our friends at Asheville Humane, Yancy County, or Haywood may be other places to check out for ferrets looking for a new home, or know of folks who are looking to rehome.
We don't provide that type of training directly but refer anyone interested to find a certified trainer here: https://www.ccpdt.org/dog-owners/certified-dog-trainer-directory/
We don't currently have any puppies in our care. To see everyone available for adoption check the listings at https://www.blueridgehumane.org/adopt/. You can also fill out an Animal Request and we'll get in touch when we have a match!
They don't sell dogs but like all similar agencies they have an adoption process that includes a screening for suitability and a adoption fee. Some places run adoption "specials" at peak times for a reduced cost. That's especially true with cats. The best way to find out their current fee is to check their website or contact them directly.
Yes. You can. You need to attend a volunteer meeting first.
They are also a private business, so they charge more.
I would personally try the pound next top the dump first. They are a lot easier to work with than blue ridge humane society. I was told my home couldn't be approved for a kitten because I already had a beagle in the house.
They can easily get tangled up on a lead or if she sees something and tries to run to it and short shucks her lead it can do damage to her neck and spinal cord nerves. Invisible fences I would be careful with how much volts are dialed on the collar. But if I had to choose between the two I would go with the invisible fence. Or try working with her on what her boundaries are and train her to free roam and stay within a certain distance from you the owner or your home
I think there $25.00
I'm sorry I cannot.
I think it's a set 100 dollars. The dog is up to date on shots, fixed and also chipped. With a guarantee that if the dog doesn't work out, please return it back to them.
You can't surrender a dog at the Humane Society unless you adopted it from there. You have to take it to the animal shelter to be evaluated first.
You need to contact the adoption center... they can tell you what they currently have.
