The shelter was perfect with 3 different fire pits It was so hot when I went it was 95° to 100° please be careful at night time it's pretty sketchy being so close to the cliff edge. Also there's no firewood around at all but we made do and had a great time

Questions & Answers

how far of a hike from parking is it?

Make sure you check if the lots are open during the time of year you go hiking. We went November 6 a few years ago, but we didn't arrive until around 7pm. By that time all the entrances were closed. We drove around until we found a spot on the road to park. From there it was at least a 2 hour hike to the shelter. It is a beautiful view though, well worth the trouble!

No reservations needed. First come first serve, though. Bear lines are also available to hang food high overnight.
