Short day trip to visit the fort. It was educational and good for those who enjoy history. My favorite part was the demonstrations from workers dressed in attire from long ago. Most cabins you could walk into and felt like you were going back in time. It's worth seeing.

Went with our friends for their annual Murphy family camping trip over memorial day weekend. We started going with them a few years ago and love it. Would like to see more trees in the campground but other than that it's awesome.

No dogs allowed. :-( The log buildings are very attractive. We went on a Wednesday and there were live demonstrations of weaving and pottery making. Lots of artifacts on display. Orientation video on the hour and half hour. Nice gift shop.

Not a great experience. We was told we can't even walk to the river. One of the reason for camping is to walk around and enjoy nature. Our fire pit was full of ash and broken bottles, the sites around us which was not even reserved was all clean... will probably try again next year as they are able to recover from flood.Sorry your experience was unsatisfactory. Access to the river is still a danger due to the flood damage and that area remains closed for the foreseeable future. Hopefully by next spring we will be back to normal and you can give us another try.

The Fort is: (I work here) $8/adults $5/kids Free/kids 3 & under The Pool is: $6.50
Bring a long hose if you camp here!
The park itself is free where you could picnic, there is a water park which is extra. The Fort is $8 adult, $5 kids we think because we paid $26 for 4 of us. There you can throw an axe, see them make stuff on a loom, view a small Daniel Boone collection (toys, games, etc).
There is no doubt a lot to do, if possible make a day of it. There is a nice pool, restaurants, hiking trails etc. But if you are going you should not miss the main attraction: Natural Bridge. Expect to spend at least 3 to 4 hours.
Yes the days will be similar if not exactly the same. Admission is $8 for adults and $5 for children. We do accept credit cards. Hope you can visit us!
On most of them. There are also parking lots at both restrooms, the playground and the Trading Post that you can also use.
We have taken our dog and he did fine and there was no signs saying they weren't allowed.
When I was there we only went to the pool area. We did ride thru the camping area it was extremely nice and clean. I don't know the price of camping ...sorry.
The settlers named it after him. By the way, the original fort or settlement was down closer by the river. There is actually some marking that you can see. Make sure you read also some of the signs that give you info and atories like the little girls kidnapped by indians.
You can park in the lower fort lot off of KY388 and hike a .25 trail up to the Fort. Parking sometimes is limited in the upper lot by the Fort for rigs that large.
The park is but the Fort is closed from October 31-April 1.
Yes we are open all year around. We can usually handle rigs around 40 feet.
If you're staying overnight in an RV or tent I guess you can fish whenever you want.
Very nice camp ground.. They have RV sites with electric and water hookup as well as Primitive sites. They offer two shower houses as well as laundry. They have a store on site for those forgotten items. Friendly Staff/ Camp Host Freedie Campbell. They also offer security, we met Ranger Fee. We had a great 4th of July 🇺🇸
turn in the park lot by the pool past campground on left straight back to big brown building and park and walk to beach
I only enjoyed fishing on a boat in that area, I was at the fort just to turn around and go in the right direction 🙄😁
They don't seem to have a lot of actors. There are people who work in the store and candle making shop, but they are crafters. I would ask at the ticket counter.
Yes from 9-5pm
Everyday I think we didn't use the pool but saw people going all the time we loved the park lg spaces very laid back
Wednesday-Saturday 10:30-6pm, Sunday 12:30-6:00pm, closed Monday & Tuesday
No 5 dollar fee
No
The campground never closes. The office is open until 9:30pm, 10:30pm or 11:30pm depending on the day of the week.
We have lots of tables scattered around the picnic area that are free to use. If a shelter is not reserved it is available on a first come first served basis and is free.
Primitive sites are $17 per night Sunday-Thursday and $19 for each Friday & Saturday. That includes up to four adults and up to 4 children 15 and under. You are allowed up to two tents but one has to be for the children only. The first night of your stay has a $6 handling fee and the entire order has 6% sales tax.
They are very close to the river but very beautiful area none the less. Well worth the short trek to the river!
We have a large campground with 166 hook-up sites and a primitive area without hook-ups. There are restrooms. Cost varies from $18-$43 depending on site type and day of week.
Please call 859-527-3131 and leave your number.
When the river is as high as it is now the Ranger generally closes it at dark for safety issues.
What part of the park? Fort is closed for the season. Campground, picnic area, boat ramp, trails and putt putt are open.
No
Teenagers are mostly there on the weekends. But during school breaks they may be seen during the week. That being said there was a few young workers that look like they are teenagers but they are actually in their 20's.
I believe there are four different shelter/picnic options available for rent.
There are a few stables about 10 to 15 minutes away off highway 25 into fayette county. Google stables
No it up on the right side of the park just across from the park hope you enjoy
