I see Dr. Dorota Hausner-Sypey. In my opinion she is the best rheumatologist in New York. I have referred her to multiple people from family and friends to the local gas station attendant that's how much I trust her I have even recommended her to my surgeons wife who is seeing one of her partners. So you would be lucky to get an appointment with anyone of the partners at The Center For Rheumatology from the staff who greet you to the girls in the lab to the wonderful doctors who treat you you're always in great hands. This is definitely a six star doctor's office.

As a former patient of Dr. Greenstein, I will say this used to be a wonderful practice. Now it is absolutely terrible. There is a 6 month (at least) wait time for an appointment, and that is with an NP or PA. They will tell you that you can get in with a physician eventually. But in reality, once they get you in as a patient, they will not allow you to see an actual physician no matter how many times you request. If you ask to see a physician one too many times, they will boot you out of the practice as a patient. I spent 10 days Mayo clinic and presented my PA at this practice with the care plan they had provided for me. He was not familiar with the Mayo Clinic (huh?!), and he seemed dismissive of their guidance. These people lack compassion and empathy. They do have a very nice, newer, modern office space. Although it is oddly surrounded by professional business offices.

Attempted to get an appointment and after two weeks of phone calls (not returned) and a VM that I got, I finally was able to reach someone who informed that I could get an appointment but, they were booking out 6 months. Why bother. It's not like I was looking to get a massage or a dinner reservation. I have some debilitating symptoms and after two weeks trying to get an appointment and working through all the hoops you tell me I can't be seen for six months. I would think you'd rather just inform people you aren't taking any new patients at this time instead of wasting my time and your receptionist's time. Attitude on the part of your phone people doesn't help either... Thanks for nothing. Have a nice life.

Called to inquire about the status of an appointment. Was told based on my referral, I couldn’t be seen. Expressed frustration. Receptionist accused me of raising my voice (I did not, rather I was starting to get emotional). She hung up on me. Very unprofessional. Your job is to manage phone calls and be polite and understanding. People aren’t coming to your office to get a massage. They’re coming due to some pretty significant and debilitating symptoms. At the end of the day, a lesson on empathy and professionalism is needed. You’re providing a service and without patients, there would be no money.

Questions & Answers

Has any other new patient, with a referral, had to wait 10 months to see Dr. Hausner? My appointment is scheduled for May 21, 2020 with a follow-up in July, 2020. Is this usual?

I absolutely love this practice, however, I was seen within 30 days 5 years ago. They have recently lost a number of physicians to retirement and relocation perhaps that is impacting scheduling.
