Beautiful hike, wear good hiking shoes but don’t miss the opportunity to walk through the shallow water by the falls. Clear trails but there is some hills and short climbs. Lots of spiders. Very cool water falls and other water ways. The plants are beautiful too, greenery everywhere! Short hike (1.5/2 mile loop) that’s definitely worth it.

Beautiful. I explored here with young children and it was great. The trails were a challenge for a toddler, but still very doable. I enjoyed Machine Falls for the climbing and playing in the water

It’s got some tough parts, with one really tough section on the way down to (or up from) machine falls. But, overall, it’s pretty nice with some climbs, great views, waterfalls and creeks. As a person with bad knees, I would not call it easy and there are places where I probably couldn’t have done it without a trekking pole. However, it is do-able and worth the effort.

This hike is moderately difficult at few patches but rest of the hike is fairly easy. Even my both parents (85 years old) came halfway through and returned when the steep slope started. I have hiked many times here, as this is the closest to my home. Even if I have 2 hours time, I just come here and relax. If you are going for the first time, you may miss the entrance of this beautiful natural area. Remember to look for a water tank, which is adjacent to the road. You have to park your vehicle here and cross the road to access this area. Machine falls is beautiful. You can take lots of wonderful pictures here.

Park at the water tower and you will see signs to the trails across the street from the parking area.
Mike Spray, yes there is a trail for mountain bikes but maybe not the full trail loop unless you dont mind packing it on your back or carry it thru the vertical climbs
If you like to camp I would try Normandy lake it's not very far and you can either pay to camp at the campground or rough it at several places on the side of the road there easily found. I would try the veranda in Tullahoma if you want to get a room because all the restaurants and bars are right there. Manchester which is right off the interstate has tons of motels everything from dives to some pretty nice rooms
To be completely honest not safe for babies or small children . Some terrain is very steep and if u had baby in a carrier u fall so doesn't the baby . But the baby carrier is best bet and use some walking sticks to help keep your balance and traction
a small grill maybe as long as more people go to help carry things. because a mound is gone and the road is a bit awkward but it's worth it. BLESSINGS
If I recall it was about 25 min one way. At least at an average pace. You should be physically apt for it since its got steep sections that you'd either climb or descend on your way to or from the falls. It could be challenging for none-actives / overweight / children, disabled people.
No, very rough trail.
Absolutely no. This is a wildlife natural area.
The main short springs trail is 2.6 miles.
It's a TN State Natural Area. https://www.tn.gov/environment/program-areas/na-natural-areas/list-of-natural-areas.html
Yes they are. Get down to a stream with some water shoes and walk a hundred yards away from the trail and you can probably let them frolic.
