Beautiful place to see lots of wildlife. Many birds and gators. Went on a hot afternoon and still saw a lot, but plan to visit in the morning when there’s more activity.

Lovely drivable wildlife area. One of my favorite spots in Orlando!

There are a few places to fish the shore from around the lake but there is no fishing on the wildlife drive itself

Any car type is fine.
Most do.....Be aware that alligators are everywhere and take proper precautions. Ejoy, post your photos on Google!

Don't forget to bring snacks and water it's a great drive just goes slow so you see a lot
It is good year round.
Drove over there last Friday. It’s closed
Visiting the wildlife drive is free. The District welcomes online donations to support sanitation, recreational maintenance, security, and visitor brochures and maps. Yes, here is the link to all info. Holiday schedule is about 3/4 way down the page. Awesome place! https://www.sjrwmd.com/lands/recreation/lake-apopka/
Yes and plan at least 2 hours of driving time. Bring a camera.
Yes. It is only open Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Federal holidays. Sunrise to sunset. Closed Monday - Thursday.
Can you out run a gator? I think we saw about 50 on our 11 mile drive today!
Yes
It can take you more than 1hr to drive the whole thing besides the animals work hard every day, they need their rest to spend on their own. 🤗
Don’t know
I don't know that it closes. We were there last weekend and you're allowed in whenever.
If you have a car, they close the entrance at closing time, but you still get to migrate through the whole drive. The pedestrian entrance remains open through the evening, though I wouldn't hang in the dark with the gators. I bike there for some beautiful sunsets along the lake and it's like you have a giant Florida wetland to yourself!
Handicapped accessible portalets are provided at the St. Johns River Water Management District’s property. Please see our map on our website for locations: www.sjrwmd.com/static/lands/trailguides/Lake_Apopka_trail_map.pdf
Thanks for the question. Golf carts are allowed. For additional information about this public property purchased to protect water resources, please visit the St. Johns River Water Management District’s website: www.sjrwmd.com/lands/recreation/lake-apopka
Probably people ride bikes on the trail but I would call first and ask them
Rode our bikes on the trail and did not spot any. Lots of alligators taking in the sun.
Yes, pets are allowed. For their safety and yours, please keep pets on a leash and away from the water and wildlife if you get out of your car. More info on our website: www.sjrwmd.com/lands/recreation/lake-apopka and www.sjrwmd.com/lands/recreation/usinglands.

Check eBird for breeding records?
Its open
Nope. No camping or fires. Picnic areas are available on select trails. None on the motor vehicle drive.
No charge Nancy. Drive around and enjoy.
No, not at all. I recommend eating in Winter Garden, Apopka, or near Mt. Dora.
Yes on the regular schedule Friday Saturday and Sunday, and it really is not a park in the usual sense.
There isn't a rule that says no but it might piss off all of those looking for a quiet and peaceful nature drive. It might scare the animals too.
I wouldn't bring a pet but you can... Alligators are across the road sometimes as well as the everything else we protect our pets from(other animals).
The district's Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive is open on all federal holidays as posted on the district's website at www.sjrwmd.com/lands/recreation. The Lake Apopka North Shore and wildlife drive are not affected by the federal government shutdown as the property is owned by the St. Johns River Water Management District, an agency of the state of Florida.
Best time is when the sun is out bright... they sun themselves on the banks. I went last weekend about 9:30ish and there were lots
It is 11 miles and depending on how fast/slow you drive will depend on how long it takes. Typically allow 2 - 2 1/2 hours as the speed limit is on 10 mph and the slower you go the more you will see. Keep the windows open because you never know what you are going to hear
No fees to enter, only open Friday, Saturday, Sunday and holidays.
You can easily become lunch... No way.
Well maintained dirt road. 15 mph speed limit, I think, or maybe 10. (But you can't assume traffic will go that quickly!)
Google Street view is very old. There is a gate and signs there now. The gate opens at sunrise Friday Saturday Sunday and major holidays.
It would probably be hard to get a lure between all the alligators!
Yes it is open to the public again. Weekend's only sunrise to sunset
Went through today and it was fine. All drivable roads are open.
No. Only Friday, Saturday, Sunday
Sunrise to sunset
