You can only call Social Security's phone number, not Manassas specifically. If you call the SS number (1-800-772-1213), they will tell you that they can't see the schedule so they send a message to Manassas, then Manassas office responds to you within 7 days and then they schedule your appointment but that can take several weeks. Only schedule an appointment if you HAVE to.

It's easiest to apply on-line. You are eligible to submit it on August 1, 2019, based on your DOB. But you can start the application now and then save the info and when August 1 comes go back on-line and hit the submit/send button. It's really an easy process. They'll confirm receipt and let you know status and if any other info is needed. Good to start this as soon as you can to avoid any delay and get your money as soon as you are eligible. Good luck!

I was told you have to stand in line. They open at 9; I got here at 8:10 with a chair and I'm #6 in line.

Not 100% sure but, drive her to office, you stand in line and when you get close to door have mother walk on up. Super ridiculous how their procedure is that our elders and thirst and disabled have to stand in such a long line long line but another option is to get there between 8 and 830 and you should be one of the 1st 5 to 10 people to get in the door hope this helps

There is a drop off box. Inside of the first set double doors. You must put your name ect. on the envelope before dropping it in. Hope this helped.

It would be good to have one but expect a long waits on the phone. Best advice... Be there at least an hour early, the office opens at 9am. We arrived at 7:30, we were the first in line but by 7:45 there were 6 people behind us.

Only way to make an appointment is to finally get through over the phone. It had taken me multiple daily calls for a week before I finally got through. They will take your name and reason for call. Then they call you back 2-3 weeks later to schedule an appointment. Not the greatest process

I don't recall. I got married and changed my name a year ago. I just went and waited in line. However, I got there an hour early and I was the 13th person in line. I would show up at least an hour before they open if you're not going to make an appointment. I ended up being there for an hour and a half total between waiting and waiting to be seen and out the door.

Have you tried just pressing 0? Usually when I get those types of automated recordings with companies pressing 0 just send me the someone automatically. I'm not sure how the Social Security Administration phone system works. It's worth a shot though.

As far as I understand, you have to go to the Social Security office. I just got married 10 months ago, and I had to go there to change my maiden name to my married name.

I'm not sure I went on a Wednesday waited an hour and 15 minutes just to get in and get a number I got there an hour before they open once I was in there I waited 50 minutes. I would definitely go on a Wednesday definitely not on a Monday or Friday it's beginning and the end of the week everybody's going into the weekend or coming off the weekend and they have a bunch of stuff to do

My guess. Someone forgot to change the phones over from Thursday night close to Friday open to the right automated message. I'm willing to bet they're open.
