4th of July in Florida, independence day. I decided to visit this place of the American Legion, an association of people who served in the Armed Forces, they promoted a karaoke open to the public. I entered the place, small, similar to a cafeteria or bar, yes, decorated everywhere with motifs and memories of the US Armed Forces. There were few people, nobody paid attention to me, the people were almost all older, men and women, in their 70s, the men had hats or shirts indicating the branch to which they belonged: Army, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard, Air Force. After a while the showman approached me to greet me and asked me if I sang, I told him in Spanish, he told me that I could gladly participate. They began to take turns for karaoke, they sang just like Ecuador, out of tune, but everyone was dying of laughter, more people began to arrive. The showman asked me again if I wanted to sing, he needed volunteers, my mind went blank, I didn't know I could sing, I started looking through the songs and one of Enrique Iglesias "I'm falling in love" appeared, so I sang like I could, if they hadn't noticed me before now they noticed me, I was a foreign cast among war veterans, but everything was cool. After a while some ladies invited me to sit down and offered to eat, a Puerto Rican veteran asked me my name and where I was from, all very friendly. With more confidence, I proposed to the ladies with me that we sing together the song "Take me home Country Road" by John Denver, they accepted, we did it and we all had fun, if I sing horrible in Spanish in English it's fatal but the ladies they were very happy. A good time, priceless, I couldn't have bought it with all the money in the world.
