Honestly I’ve never had worse treatment from a healthcare provider than I experienced from alaska behavioral health. I saw a provider there from 2020-2021 and experienced just a barrage of issues, including inexperienced providers, unexpected out of network bills (even though I was assured that they were in network for blue cross blue shield), and constant last minute changes to what provider I was seeing. How many times I would get a call the day of an appointment or just show up to an appointment and be told that I would be seeing a random new therapist or psychiatrist was shocking and felt highly unethical. As for the out of network billing, I still constantly am calling the billing department to resolve it and am getting no response. I wouldn’t recommend the experience I’ve had with Alaska Behavioral Health to my worst enemy. I recommend searching elsewhere for mental health support!

UPDATED REVIEW: Front desk has gotten better about answering phone calls! My psych provider Shannon Buckner & my counselor Nicole Jenkins are both AMAZING providers! I am forever grateful for their care & how much they’ve helped me in the last 5 months! I’ve never trusted/felt comfortable w/ a counselor more than I have w/ Nicole Jenkins! I highly recommend their providers! My experience definitely did not start off good. I had someone give me the wrong information for my appt (Telehealth, was given wrong person’s login), waited 5mins past my appt before I tried calling the front desk. (Providers run late) I could not reach anyone at the front desk, I called 13 times and only got voicemail. So I called the nurse line, the nurse was extremely unhelpful, sent me back to the front desk VM. I then decided to call the BILLING department, at this point my appt is well over. I reached a lovely gentleman named Jay in Billing. He proceeded to call the front desk, when he couldn’t reach he said he had emailed them and to wait for a call. Someone did call me back to R/S shortly after he emailed, she informed me she was the ONLY ONE at the front desk… no bueno! So she apologized and got me set up for later that same day for my FIRST appt w/ my counselor. (Hence why I was so agitated. I needed this first session) Jay also FOLLOWED UP the next day to make sure I received a call back. I appreciate his kindness and his outstanding work ethic. :) thanks to him, I am content w/ services. (My counselor was also pretty cool so far)

Not professional. They have this posted on there building and yet there always 30mins to 2 hours late after my appointment time. Would not recommend. They also make mental health patients worse by making false promises and then not following through on agreed treatment plan.

I'd give them zero stara, sadly that is not an option. I started with Alaska Behavioral Health in 2019, when it was Anchorage Community Health or something like that. Well, as with all name changes in healthcare that was a sign of things to change. What was once a staff of mostly helpful people, has become textbook example of how the industrial medical complex is ruining people's lives. Now, no one there cares, they just want your money. They have no concern for your actual well being. Everyone on my original treatment team resigned, last year. They nothing good was coming for the patients, so they left, as I should have done. Go to Providence Behavioral Health if you can. Alaska Behavioral Health will only make your condition worse.
