The Clerks are awesome and will go out of their way for you if you treat them with some respect. They definitely deserve all the respect they can get. The Superior Court Clerk is also trying to implement changes to help everyone in the legal process have their matters run more smoothly. I am very supportive of that effort. I am not giving OC Courthouse 5 stars for two reasons. First, the phones are not answered as consistently as they were before COVID and I see a lot of reviews noting how often calls are not answered still. If you have email, the clerks that I have interacted with are very good about responding quickly by email. The other reason that I am only giving the OC Courthouse four stars instead of five is because they will sometimes close a few minutes early. Other county courthouses, like Alamance, stay open right until 5:00 p.m. EDT. Of course, procrastinators like me would show up at 5:01 p.m. and then whine when we are told we are too late, so I can understand the need to be completely closed down by 5:00 p.m., with no exceptions. My advice to fellow procrastinators is to get to the OC Courthouse before 4:45 p.m.

Jury duty. There is not an open lunch place in walking distance other than Weaver street market which not everyone can afford. There is not a cafeteria. There is not appropriate public transportation in this town. In order to not be arrested I had to have someone drive me & provide the gas. Due to inflation the cost of gas to get back and forth was well over $100 and I had to pay to have my lunch brought to me. My jury duty after expenses actually cost me $95!!!! And I couldn't bring my purse which was not on the letter of instruction so that left me hungry two days in row till I could remember to adjust. You can't bring a lunch into the building either!!! How can the county that charges one of the highest tax rates in the state not do better? Orange County operates happily catering to the gentrification of the richest residents driving locals whose families have been here since pre-civil war & who still do their civic and social duty such as voting & jury duty are literally being driven from our town and county. This just hurt my family so much financially and there is no one to care or tell. PS You don't get paid for being a juror here in a timely manner So in reality I'm out $145 until the county gets around to making payment to me.... That's pretty painful when your unemployed or working paycheck to paycheck.

The workers are nice but they way things work here is trash and like who can you complain too. I'm so annoyed I've been back to this courthouse 4 times and each time has been a waste 😒. The tell you to call but NEVER pick up
