We just picked up our new family member (7 month old kitten). The facility is clean and well staffed. We are very happy with our new bundle of love.

I hope your animal never gets lost in the first place, but I desperately hope that if your pet does wander off and is taken somewhere to be housed until you find them, they are NEVER taken to the Durham Co. Animal Shelter. Its was a concrete cell. Not even hay to lay on. My dog lost his voice, his hair and his waistline. I'm completely disgusted.

Came to look and possibly arrange to meet a foster. Ended up coming home with the sweetest dog. The humans are so helpful. We were even allowed to see how our adoptee would do with a cat. They are swimming in kittens as of July 2022. The kitty room was such a treat full of playful babies. They can definitely use your support with donations and extra food and treats. Such a worthwhile place to help.

At APS, the fee to adopt a dog is $125-175, depending on the dog. For cats it's $95 for one or $145 for two together. Other pet's fees range from $5 to $50.
YES
You can absolutely surrender your dog and they are fantastic at both caring for them and finding them new homes.
Just go in for a dog, request to adopt, fill out a form, and wait a few days.
Yes always seeking volunteers
If you surrender your pet and change your mind you have to go through adoption to get him or her back if they are still available
Yes!! APS has lots of guinea pigs and hamsters right now! Guinea pigs' adoption fees are $10 and hamsters are $5, but right now the hamsters are FEE WAIVED because there are so many of them! Come get them before they're all gone!
APS has all kinds of dogs, from small to large! You can look on their website to see what dogs are currently available for adoption.
Yes
Not sure. Call and inquire about this. Pretty sure they would welcome this idea.
there is actually no such thing as a "teacup" puppy and this puppy is normally just the result of 2 runts being bred together. these dogs run risks of heart problems, lung problems, shortened life span, and many other health problems. at the APS, they do not identify the animals by breed and thus do not know how large they will be when they get older! they do normally have small breed dogs that would be a lot healthier and need loving homes too. <3
We have many resources at our front desk regarding puppy behaviors. Come in to talk more about training and what our rehoming process is. We'd love to give you as many resources to have more success before considering rehoming.
Hi! Have you tried talking to your neighbor and suggesting more time outside the crate? Feel free to call Animal Services dispatch if you need assistance from their deputies in response to this situation (919-560-0900).

Do you ever get any dautchsund puppies or any puppies that stay small?
I adopted my cat from here, but would not bring a sick cat here to re-home it, as they do have to euthanize many animals. If your cat is possibly going to be euthanized it is better for you to be with him in his last moments...not an unfamiliar place with strangers. Please call your vet to discuss less expensive options for your cat's care, including whether euthanizing is the right choice. Please don't give up your pet. Good luck.
No necause dogs pea more because they are in heat.
You will have to come in to find out. The smaller ones tend to go quickly so if you see one you like, a deposit needs to be placed on it while your application gets processed.
It is not a boarding facility. You have have to sign your rights to the animal over to them for them to take your dog in. That place is there to find animals homes, not hold on to them while people go on vacation.
I believe the fee is $90 and the cat is vaccinated and altered as well.
Dogs & puppies range from $100-$175.
Yes, but i think you should find a friend to take care of her while ypur sick, then get her back
Animal Service's rabies clinic is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10a-12p and 2-4p. They are located at 3005 Glenn rd Durham, NC 27704
I'm pretty sure they will take donations or blankets and food
They will keep a dog until it is adopted. No time limit.
Yes can you send a picture of it
Contact a rescue instead. Don't subject an animal you love to a kill shelter.
