This organization is so underrated and it deserves better. First off, I am so sorry to hear Heather J. passed away. I am a former volunteer with Gurrs and Purrs-I may be a little biased here, but it was just one of the most eye-opening experience volunteering here. It is a wonderful organization with wonderful dogs and cats (most particularly cats) to adopt from. Heather was a nice person and done her job. She did want the best for these doggos and kitties. This is also a small organization with great volunteers all around. I will highly recommend anyone to adopt from and/or volunteer with Gurrs and Purrs

Shame on the Karens writing nasty reviews. Rescues are not businesses...they are charities trying to save animals, most of $ comes from their own pockets. Thank you for saving these angels , there is a place for you in heaven!

Hello! I had a good experience with my adoption process! Heather was not rude in any way! I think it is so unreasonable for people to be saying she is rude and unprofessional! It is horrible a review I saw for this shelter! Heather cannot control what she goes through! She takes care of the animals as best as she can ! My dog was in good condition and no signs of neglect ! Also I am saying this off of reviews i have seen, she is not snappy! She seems like she could be very stressful and it is horrible what one of these reviews say! I had a reasonable process with my dog and I really do reccomend adopting from here and I know I sure will! I really hope things turn out well for you heather!

We contacted this business days ago. No one has bothered to respond to it. We will not be doing business with them if this is how they handle their customers' attempts to adopt.

Questions & Answers

Do you guys have any kittens

Brianna Zendejas | Sep 15, 2019
Anne Marie Simoneau | Sep 15, 2019

We do. We have a few kittens on Saturday at Rosemead Petsmart. And we have 6 to 8 mos olds at Monrovia Petsmart. So depends on what your looking for.

We found an abandoned kitten. The mother hasn’t been seen for almost 6-7 hours. It’d about 2 days old. My mom will not caring for it. We don’t want it to die either. So we are considering surrendering, but Does it cost to surrender a cat here?

Hello! Thanks so much for wanting to help this kitten!! We really appreciate people like you who want to help little ones in need! It looks like your question is from some time ago, so I hope you were able to find help for the kitten. Gurrs and Purrs does not charge for someone to surrender a found animal to us, but we do appreciate and hope that folks would consider making a donation to us to help with expenses that we'll incur to take care of the found animal. With found animals, the law requires us to hold onto the cat or dog for at least 30 days and post the animal online with the information about how/where/when he or she was found on social media, post fliers in the local area where found, and take care of the dog or cat during that 30 day period just as we would care for any animal that we're responsible for --Having them seen by a vet, scan for a microchip, given vaccines, microchip, etc.. all of which cost us financially. So we rely on donations to help with these costs.

Can I foster any pets there?

Yes, there are usually always looking for fosters for cats and dogs since space is limited.

do you guys do home checks if ur adopting a cat?

Timmy queef | Sep 14, 2021
Gurrs and Purrs | Jun 16, 2022

Hello and thanks for your question! Yes, we do require home checks in order to adopt out any of our rescue animals into a new home. This is part of our adoption process just to ensure that both the adopter and the animal are comfortable in the home together, and ensure that the home is safe for our rescue babies. Often people may not realize what some potentially dangerous issues can be in their homes - like loose or unsecured window screens, plants or cleaning solutions that can be hazardous to animals so need to be kept out of their reach (similar to having a small child in the home). So we just want to ensure the home is safe, and let the new owner know if we see any potential issues so they can address them appropriately. Most rescue groups that we know all do home checks, as it's just part of a basic adoption process. I hope this answers your question, and again thank you for your interest in our Gurrs and Purrs rescue babies!
