I just ordered a solid Hot Pastrami sandwich. I admit my bar is very high (I used to live 3 blocks from Katz's Deli in NYC). Overall the sandwich is good and fairly priced for the portion (the half is huge). I also ordered a grilled cheese sandwich which I would avoid...was tasteless and not worth the 5.99 cost at all.

Best sandwiches in Monterey. Amazingly huge portions for the money and absolutely delicious. Great charm. The owner is a super friendly guy and the ladies making the magic behind the deli are wonderful. Great selection of snacks, drinks. Highly recommend.

There are a few recipes online that eliminate the brining process. I doubt you'll find a sandwich shop or restaurant who's willing to take that risk.
