I never have had a major problem with USPS before Cottage Grove. A letter, with a check, was posted on May 24th to arrive on or about June 1. That did not happen. I visited the CG USPS on Wed, June 2nd and asked they place my letter and check DIRECTLY INTO a PO box that is located IN THAT STATION. You can see the PO Box from the counter I was having the conversation. I asked it be delivered straight there, same day, and the attendant said that was no problem but I would have to pay for a stamp. Not a problem at all (although strange as the distance travelled is, like I said, 5 feet). June 3rd rolls around - letter has not arrived in the PO Box. I would've stuck it in there myself if they let me. I cannot comprehend how this could have happened in such a small postal office. Ridiculous. As of June 4, neither letter/check has arrived to its destination. I am not surprised the USPS is hemorrhaging money.

Things come on time sometimes, and other times they are late, but marked as "delivered and available for pickup", at 6pm when the place closes at 5 (even though I am wheelchair bound and cannot drive to pick up packages, hence the delivery). So now I can't mark my packages as "not delivered" (on time) with Amazon, even though I haven't gotten my package and have no access to it. They also Continue to put an old tenants mail in our mailbox after repeated times of going to the office directly and asking them to put a stop to it. We get secure mail for someone else after living here for 2 years. They seem to not care about their jobs, getting things done correctly, or getting it done on time. Wish I could get my mail another way.

For almost 10 years we have run a few businesses that require frequent use of USPS in Cottage Grove WI. The staff at the office have been fantastic! They are friendly, professional and truly care about doing good work.

Love my local post office! I started an online business within the last year and frequently visit to ask silly questions and mail packages. The staff are helpful and patient, the facility is clean and very well stocked with postal supplies, but that's not the gist of why my loyalties lie with them versus other carriers. I stopped in to send out orders the other day near closing. An older gentleman was at the island area where you wait in line, hunched over and looking quite tired out. The man behind the counter sold him some stamps, and then (this is the part that spurred this review), PUT ON HIS COAT AND WALKED THAT OLD MAN TO HIS CAR. Heck yes. I give mad props to this unnamed postal employee who is likely dealing with 8 straight hours of pre holiday insanity, frazzled folks with unrealistic expectations, but still took it upon himself to be a good human being and help another who looked likely a stranger to him. That's good people.
