Nice little museum, has a lookout tower that you can see area of battlefield. Battlefield is heavily wooded, you can drive and read plaques but you will understand what actually occurred if you walk the trails.

My boys and I stopped by during a weekend visit to the area. We very much enjoyed the hiking. Our favorite trail was the Big Spring Trail.

This is a great place. Droop Mountain Battlefield Park is full of history and some amazing views. The park is very well maintained and very clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful with us, as it was our first time visiting. The log cabin museum is really great and full of historical information about the Battle of Droop Mountain. The path to the scenic overlook is well maintained and easily accessible and the views are amazing. The tree behind the fuel house at the beginning of the path to the overlook is very interesting. The cannon and markers are very informative. The restroom facility is a little rustic, but was expected as you are out in the middle of nowhere and on top of a mountain lol. However they were clean and hand sanitizer was available. I really enjoyed it, along with my teenagers that were with me. Definitely recommend this Park to anyone looking for a nice historic place of West Virginia. Thanks
