Love the duality of this place! Beautiful hiking trail but yet scrary af! We kept a fast pace in fear of what may be lurking nearby. Great for burning calories!

Yes a short sidewalk trail. But also you can walk a few miles on sand around a lake.
This is a nature preserve and therefore dogs or any other pets are not allowed.
Okay, I confirmed it in person. No biking allowed, only foot traffic (walking/hiking). It's printed on the welcome sign. However, you can bike at Dyer Park, which is adjacent to Winding Waters and has miles of trails.
There are no signs that say you can't, but the area you are allowed to fish from shore is very small. You would have to do it from a canoe. I would definitely check with fwc first.
No pets are allowed
Paul - there are alligators in essentially every freshwater body in the state. And there are plenty at Winding Waters Natural Area. There has never been an "attack" at Winding Waters. Sometimes on our Natural Areas, especially where there are fishing piers, we have alligators that will become habituated to humans due to people feeding them (which is illegal!). These alligators are removed from the natural area. Walking the hiking trails along the edge of the restored wetland is certainly a safe activity. Like walking anywhere in a natural setting, you should be aware of your surroundings and watching where you step. Enjoy it!
Not in my opinion
Kayaks are allowed, along with fishing. Check website for more information.
There is a model plane flight area up the hill
