I have visited this place periodically and what I have seen is not good, it is totally abandoned by the maintenance workers, a very dirty place where the elderly do not have any space to enjoy, it is not free, they say that the government does not have the funds needed, I would like the proper authorities, Miami Dade to be more concerned about this matter.

Unfortunately I was living at Hellen Sawyer for two years and it was to me like living in hell. I don't recommend this place to anyone with a clear mind. They don't have entertainment or amenities for the residents, the food is very unhealthy especially for elderly people, full of grease, lots of carbs and rotten vegetables. I get extremely high levels of cholesterol, triglycerides ang blood sugar due to the diet in that place. There are lots of smoker residents and they smoke everywhere with no respect for non smoker residents. While I was living there I was sick all the time with allergies, colds and diarrhea. This is not a good place for elderly people. That place is just to wait for death.

Friendly and caring staff. Rooms are not fancy but residents have privacy and dignity. A good option for elderly people who need affordable care.
