Five stars for the effort & hardwork that went into creating this museum. From the wide planked floors on the interior, to the mature pine trees that surround the back and left side of the building - beautifully spaced plantings flank the sides and front elevation. The color of the building is a beautiful gray/green with a blue metal roof and stained porch with a wheelchair accessibility ramp. We have been wanting to visit ever since we received the notice of its opening. It's only open, two days a week: Wednesdays & Saturdays. Be mindful of that when planning your visit. Finally we were able to stop in this past Saturday. Kaye was our docent and we appreciated her thorough explanation of each area as we began our tour with the post office and ended it in the library and gift shop. She was knowledgeable and very kind. She let us ask plenty of questions! It is clear she is passionate about the history of our town & preserving it. It has been meticulously designed for flow from one topic/subject to the other. Great place to visit for all ages, clear legible large modern signage; not cluttered; well placed artifacts. Perfect sized exhibit not too overwhelming. We've been told there will be an interactive element coming soon for kids & adults alike!! We will be making a second trip for sure. We are very proud to say Garner's been our home for more than an 13 years. Through preservation efforts The Garner Area Historical Society was able to partner with the Town of Garner and relocate the Historic 1900 Depot to provide this history museum. What a wonderful gift to be shared with all of Garner and the surrounding towns and state. We have been to: Johnston County Heritage Center, Wayne County Museum and the Benson Museum of Local History, and this is just as great as those, if not more well done. We are biased, though, so don't take our word for it and go have a look for yourself. Be sure to sign the guest book and please consider making a donation to this wonderful gem.

They have a download link to the Brick Order Form on the Garner Area Historical Society website. Instructions on how to return the form are listed there along with a phone number to contact. Any questions you may have I am sure someone would be more than happy to answer for you. Hope this helps!
We have a pretty comprehensive display of old Garner-area schools from the late 1800's on. Please come to visit us to see it.
