My car was stolen and because I wasn’t in town—despite calling 911 —they couldn’t take a police report because I wasn’t there to sign the report. First inconvenience… When I got back to town I called Officer Griffin who told me that I could file a police report, but they would have to pick up the car immediately and I would be charged for the towing fees. He was apologetic and offered to talk to The supervising Sergeant. He came back saying There wasn’t any other options. Wait, so the police did nothing to investigate the crime and I’m going to have to pay for the towing/storage fees? You see my car had been found (I have a very good idea who stole it), but now the Humboldt County Sheriff’s office had tagged the car for removal since the car was “abandoned.” I called the sheriff’s office and explained what happened and told him I was working on getting the car picked up. So I was the victim of a crime and the police (because they make the victim pay) clearly incentivizing NOT filing a report. I spent hours sorting out what to do with my now picked over car. I was finally able to donate The car to a charity. Perhaps had the police department done their job, or at least been creative enough to come up with another solution, I would of had a different experience, but in this Instance the only person who “paid” was me! It ridiculous to charge somebody who has been a victim of a crime any sort of fees. The police department needs to figure out a different way because I heard from someone else this is not the first time this has happened. In fact, I was told someone was killed in a hit-and-run and they actually, believe it or not, tried to have the family pay the towing fees!!

Eureka police Department has always come when we needed them. We live across from the Adorni center and there’s a lot of activity in the parking lot and sometimes They’ve had to come to break up fights, get people out of there that were making too much noise,..even dealing with abandon cars. And then a couple times they had to come when we called because there was some serious dangerous stuff going on, peoples lives in jeopardy. But they always come and sometimes it takes a few minutes, but usually it’s right away. We appreciate them very much, thank you Eureka Police Department and officers 👮🏽 👮🏼♂️ 👮🏿♀️ Sincerely Tami 🙋🏼♀️

Horrible at their jobs, as well as spewing ignorance and hate and teaching their kids to be that way as well. Dispatchers are also completely untrained and ineffective. I was a dispatcher for years and I’ve had to call multiple times and have dealt with what seemed to be novice police force and dispatch.

These people work hard and put themselves in danger for us. Always have a great experience with them.

It's not "discretion," it's disregard for basic human decency, the law and their duty to serve and protect. All the EPD cares about is oppressive abuse of authority. The only thing they will act on is their egotistic drive to assert themselves. The law really has no role in any of their decisions. If they like you, "Have a nice night," and if they don't, "You're under arrest (for an invented reason that they will work out an official charge for later)."
How isn't that racism? If it wasn't intended to be so its rude. Theres a video, you should watch it
The fake drugs is illegal its intent to sell and idk abt tje showering
With the EPD, the only thing that matters is if they can get away with beating someone up. Find a way to get them out of sight, tell them that person doesn't like them, and they'll beat the person to death.
I believe there are many. And for the 🔥 department also. I think if you're interested in donating now, toys for tots and other places that are asking for help, would truly benefit from a donation of cash, n most importantly, jackets, shoes, and Toys. Bless u for wanting to give.🙏💞 We need more people like you. Thank you 😊❤️🙏
