Hi Bob. The HHW doesn't accept air conditioners. You can take your sure conditioner to Lovelace Transfer station or North County Landfill and Recycling Center on Harvey Lane in Lodi.
The HHW will accept smoke detectors as long as they do not contain radioactive material. The HHW Facility is prohibited from taking radioactive materials by law. Look for the radioactive symbol on the device. If it has the symbol, the detector’s manufacturer is required by law to properly dispose of radioactive material, so please send it back to the manufacturer.
