The worst consulate and policies, you are not allowed to talk with anyone unless you have an appointment. Their automated calling system is messed up and hang up after you choose Visa section. so eventually there is no way to get any information or even an appointment. Come on Japan, you are smarter than this.
Plus- they have an app called MySOS where you upload your vaccination info so you can get your medical status in order to onboard and in Aug 4th they mandated uploading a pic of your passport, funny they did not do enough testing and the application is not work, I kept getting unknown error. I missed my flight too.

Arrived just after 1300 when they opened for Visa pickup, and had to wait about an hour. Fast and easy once my number was called.

At this time during the pandemic, you would need a very urgent reason to visit Japan; for example very ill parents in Japan, etc. You would also need verification of this (doctor letters). If a visa is granted, then you must take a Covid test showing negative within 72 hours of your flight. Once in Japan, you would need to quarantine for 14 days.

You need to provide information on your conviction, sentence and current status for immigration . It's a risk tho, they may not let you in at time of arrival, it's at their discretion.....but if ur not driving? I'd call the consulate and ask.

All applications needs to be done in person they don't do appointments. The 1st visit is turn in all the paper work for all renewals also they only take cash. The 2nd visit is to pick up your passport.
You can go and visit the website and download the documents and fill them out before visiting by doing so that will save you time on your visit.
