If you are thinking about signing with Elite Solar Pro, you should read this first. I signed a contract with Elite in November. Elite checked my electrical box and did a roof inspection and declared all was good to go. In March, the solar panel crew arrived to start installing the panels. I got a call at work from the installation crew subcontractor foreman telling me they found some holes in my roof. The foreman told me that he called Elite to notify them of finding several holes in the roof, but Elite told him to continue the installation anyway. Fortunately, the installer felt a moral obligation to call me at work to share the findings and tell me Elite said to continue the work but wanted to make sure I agreed. Putting solar panels over a roof with holes made no sense, and I sent the crew home and called Elite. Elite said they would send someone to repair the holes in the roof. The person Elite sent told he thought the roof should be replaced. I called Elite and inquired about their roof “inspection” and was told that their inspector did mention the holes he found but Elite “forgot” to tell me. A good company would have reached out to me and at least expressed an apology for this major screw-up, but I never heard from anyone other than the salesman. I hired my own roofing contractor and had the roof replaced, at a cost of $18,000 that was unexpected when Elite said the roof was fine. Had I known before deciding to get solar that I needed a roof replacement, I am not sure I would have proceeded. Once the roof was replaced, the solar panels were installed. A few days later, I received an email from Sunnova saying my contract was canceled and sorry to see me go. I called Elite who said that was a glitch in their system and sent me a new contract. Perhaps I should not have signed the new contract given my experience to date, but the panels were up and I wanted the solar. To turn on the system, a “Witness test” Inspection with utility company and Elite is required in CT. This was scheduled to turn on system, and I took the day off from work as I was required to be there. On the scheduled day, only the United Illuminating inspector showed up at the appointed time- no one from Elite came, and the UI inspector left. I called Elite and got apology that they made an error in scheduling and they needed to reschedule with UI and me. Again, no one from Elite reached out to offer an apology for what took place. Another inspection was scheduled, and again, I took the day off from work for the rescheduled date. This time, the Elite electrician showed up but nobody from UI. After my call to UI, I learned that UI had told Elite they needed more information on the battery that was installed before they could come out, and they had communicated with Elite needing some additional information from Elite in order to do inspection and UI had communicated in their email to Elite to notify me that the inspection would need to be rescheduled once Elite provided the needed information. I called Elite and learned that they had, indeed been notified, but no one read the email from UI until I told them about it. Again, no one from Elite reached out to apologize for yet another case of dropping the ball. If you are looking for a company that follows through, provides honest and competent service, look elsewhere. September 1, 2022 This is an update written two months later. The owner did reach out, discussed some compensation for added expenses of lost work time and new roof costs. However I never received anything, and now in September- 10 months after signing a contract, my solar system has yet to be completed and inspected. Never have I had an Elite staffer reach out to update me or find out what the status of my system is.

Questions & Answers

what is the name of the company that makes your solar panels

We use a variety depending on supply chains, it depends on the state as well. We always use tier 1, high efficiency panels. Currently we’re mostly using Hanwha Q. Cells.

Are there leasing fees

We have 4 different programs. The lease is the least popular. If you reach out we can put you in touch with a solarpro who can give you more details on each option. Ownership is by far the favorite, you get to claim all the credits and incentives under that program.
