Yesterday at around 3:30 I called my local Mavis and requested a quote for front breaks (rotor and pads) and a set of rear shocks. I was quoted a price of $349.00 for the breaks and $260.00 for the rear shocks for a total of $609.00 plus tax. Asked when this could be done and counter man said today and we are open till 6 pm. Drove my car there and spoke to the counter man who I spoke to on the phone. I explained this is my budget and if it goes over for some strange reason to contact me as I will only do the breaks at this time. At about 5:30 pm he called and stated the vehicle was ready for pick up and work completed. Asked how much and he stated 758.58!?! I at this point was furious as I told him to call if it was more than he quoted! He had no explanation and on my receipt there is no other work was done besides breaks and shock. The quoted $260.00 for the shocks turned into $339.98 and the break job $20.00 more! Need to know why I was charged over $100+! I have had great experiences and this bothers me because if you quote a price you should abide by it and best is I asked for a call if it went over!! Very unhappy and no way to treat a loyal customer!! The only good thing is I paid over the phone, had them leave the keys in the car and picked it up that evening after store hours! EDIT: Would like to note that I read my review once it posted and the store mentioned in Brewster NY is not the location that serviced my vehicle. The location is in Westchester County.
