Excellent experience. Secure and relaxing 😌 😎. People are fishing and having family fun and taking care their health.

Great place for a run/walk. Also, the statues are totally awesome!

The signs say "No motorized Vehicles" but you see electric/ hybrid bikes all the time.
Weekdays are far less crowded; however, weekend visitors to the trail seem to be evenly distributed throughtout, too.
The Capital Trail itself is fine for street bikes but you wouldn't want to ride around the island at Great Shiplock Park ( Richmond trailhead )with your Cervello or Pinarello or whatever. I've got a "hybrid" commuter/mountain Cannondale with no suspension that works fine but it's got fairly knobby tires.
At the intersection of Pear St and Dock St. Go soutwest down Pear St and you come to a small parking lot. It's in the Great Shiplock Park. I usually start from here.
The start of the trail is Great Shiplock Park.
There is a small parking lot at the trail head that fills go quickly. But if you follow the trail to the canal walk there should be parking across the street.
