What an amazing job they've done with the upkeep of the state Forrest at Howe Park. There's lots of trails to hike through and the scenery around the lake is beautiful.

This forest is a very special and sacred place. This was a native American hunting ground. The nipmuc tribe hunted the cranberry river for Moose Bear , Deer etc. We are hoping the dam will be taken out so that this river will become free flowing again. Before the small dams cranberry river connected to Quabog river and 7 mile river it was a major fishing spot years ago

There are no lifeguards on duty, but people were wading in the pond.
No camping, no facilities, no picnic tables, just a small pond and some nice walking trails. Snowmobile trails along the stream are very nice to walk in warmer weather. There is a large parking lot and I see people pulling lots of fish from the pond. Usually pretty quiet, there's never very many other people visiting at any given time.
I don't think that there is any camping allowed at Spencer State Forest. There are no developed campsites anyway and no restrooms/showers.
