The phone system is a phone tag and needs a better way to talk to a person at the desk not in Reno NV.

Terrible!! They keep cancelling my appointments behind my back as I'm taking time off work to come see them. "Oops I'm sorry but they cancelled you for today" twice they have done that as I'm there. Cmon guys get your shot group tightened up over there!

Great staff that’s helpful, and many services for veterans except no vision here. You’ll need to find an outside optometrist or optician if you don’t want to travel to other VAs with vision services.

Questions & Answers

I'm a Vietnam era veteran with health care from Kaiser that doesn't cover hearing aids. Can I get them from the VA

Well it depends on your service connection. My dad is a Vietnam vet as well and hearing aids are provided , though at this time I'm thankful he doesn't need them. Best way to find out is to call the VA 800 number. They will ask for your last 4 digits of your social security number and your last name. Once they verify you are who you say you are, ask your question and they will get you to the right department. It may not happen on the first try so be patient. We also have so very knowledgeable folks at the VSO (Veterans Service Office in Rocklin - Placer County) that are great working through issues.

Not that I'm aware of. But there is a private lab just up the street I used for DNA testing.

Does the VA Clinic in Auburn offer the new Shingles shot? If so, is an appt. required?

I believe they do. I'm not 100% sure but the VA is pretty big about saving money through preventative shots. I have gotten my influenza and pneumonia shot with no prior notice because the nurses can give the shot and don't have to bug the doctors. I've been at the Auburn Clinic for 10 years and they have never let me down. You can call 530-889-0872 which is the direct line. Sometimes the calls go through Reno if they can't answer so if that happens, just ask to speak to the advice nurse. That should get you what you need. Thank you for your service.
