One of my favorite spots in Florida, awesome place for kayaking! You can paddle out to a beautiful island and explore the rivers. Pods of dolphins always swim right past my kayak when I am here. If the sun is out and the water is clear, this place feels like the Keys or the Caribbean.

Waaaaay better than cedar key area. I have never had a problem going out the channel even on the lowest tides.

Your car would be more secure if you launch from Yankeetown next to the coast guard station. There's a $5.00 launch fee and takes about 20 minutes to get to the gulf

No sorry. But there are many Camping areas nearby. Highway 19. Or North Citrus Avenue. I think it closes around sunset. Good luck and enjoy your journey.

How deep is it for launching?

We were there at very low tide, and watched several boats launch. The ramp on the left is the better of the two, but be careful at very low tides you run out of cement ramp and there's a bit of a drop off for your trailer. Which could be an issue if your loading the boat at very low tide. But launching at very low didn't seem to be an issue. Just make sure your loading at midtide or high tide.

Does it have a closing time?

Open 24/7 but rumer has it getting a facelift at the first of the year and will be closed for about 4 months during construction. I'm not sure if it is really going to happen though. Try not to use the south ramp at low tide because it has issues, like holes...
