I have been working with Katrina for over a year now following a significant back event. Not only is my back so much better and I am pain-free, but my whole body is stronger and more flexible. In addition, my bone density numbers have stabilized, meaning I do not have to switch to a more problematic medication. I am so motivated to continue! Thank you Katrina and everyone at The Pilates Studio!

Monday I attended a new class with Maureen for the first time. I wasn’t totally sure what to expect, but it was so much fun. She’s a great instructor. No matter which classes I take at the Pilates Studio they’re all fun and I always feel great afterwards. My week wouldn’t be complete without Pilates! 👨🏻

I have been fortunate to have taken a number of classes with Laurie this summer. She is a fun, relaxed instructor with a wealth of knowledge about Pilates. She tailors each class to the students in attendance, providing challenges and modifications as necessary. I leave each class feeling more flexible and stronger than when I arrived!

One of the best parts of a Pilates practice is that there are no numbers attached. As clients get stronger the progress is measured by activities not the amount of resistance. Once a client who started doing Pilates after a back injury, came into the studio very excited. She said “On Thanksgiving I pulled a huge Turkey out of the oven and lifted it to the counter by myself!” As a Pilates practice progresses the measures come from life not from numbers. When an exercise gets too easy, an instructor will not ask for more repetition, she will give a new exercise, or she will add a proprioceptive challenge (like trying that exercise standing on one leg). Clients are encouraged to notice how their body feels instead of counting repetitions.
That depends on a lot of factors- what else do you do for exercise? What other activities do you participate in? How much time can you devote? There is no right answer as everyone’s situations will be different. At The Pilates Studio we push for consistency. Doing a session once a week regularly will be better than a lot one week, and none the next. The studio offers many possibilities for different types of sessions and classes. We also encourage and help clients to establish a home program.
We offers Private, Semi-Private, Small Group and Independent Sessions-, which are scheduled by appointment, and Group Mat and Group Apparatus Classes, which happen on a regular weekly basis (only some of which you need to sign up for). During Sessions clients work on their own individualized program- even if they are sharing an instructor. These programs are workouts based on the client’s goals, injuries, and how their body is feeling on any given day.Sessions typically utilize the Pilates Apparatus however some clients choose to focus on just Pilates Mat work. To do Sessions we strongly recommend starting with The Introductory Package (3 Private Sessions). Classes are Pilates workouts that you do in a group with other people (everyone does the same workout). We have 2 unlimited class intro offers available on our website to get you started with classes.
