It's locked up outside of mass and asking if you can light a candle in grief gets you told to go away and a door slammed in your face. Very Catholic.

I was here for a christening, not mass. The church is large and beautiful. It was a bit difficult finding the right door to go in and where to park.

There is a 5:00 mass on Saturday, usually the Cathedral is opened an hour earlier for confessions... and earlier if there's a wedding scheduled for the day
