This is one of the only places in Madison to purge and fill a new tank. Most places these days only do 20# tank exchange... The big box stores and local hardware stores only offer exchange while the other option, Amerigas, is currently close to walk-in due to COVID. Just stopped by Ferrellgas today to have them purge and fill a new 13# tank. Gave them the tank, went into the office to pay, and the tank was ready when I came back out. In and out in less than 5 minutes! Their prices have increased due to the recent demands (see pic for prices) but if you need to purge a new tank, it's a great option. Employees were friendly. Note that they close earlier than 5pm some days (I stopped by Friday at 4:20pm and the door was locked) so calling ahead may be a good option if going in late afternoon.

Good luck getting a hold of them! Horrible customer service. Called 3 times a day for 2 days and left messages, and no one returns my phone calls. I have better luck calling my cell phone provider to get through to a human.

This is a great place. Excellent customer service. The value that they bring to the smallest customer is fantastic. I will never buy an exchange tank for propane again. I happened to have a convenience store tank sitting at home and it didn't even occur to me until I picked them both up together that obviously the convenience store one is not filling the tanks anywhere near where they're supposed to be. It maybe legal or for shipping safety but it's not full. Now my gas grill and heaters can run for a substantial amount of time without driving back down to the store continuously. $20 for a 20lb tank filled in about 5 minutes.
