This spot and their brookline location are entirely a scam. I’ve sold to them for several years and every time I go they take less and less of brand new unworn in-style clothing that is currently on trend. When they decide to take anything at all out of a massive pile of clothes you brought in, they will offer at MOST 20% of what they would sell it for. They used to offer up to 40% years back, but as their profits go up their customers go down. This place is just awful, do not waste your time trying to shop because everything will be more outdated than what you’re wearing when you walk in - a ton of ugly non-stylish clothing with a huge markup. They even sell the most disgusting looking shoes that look like they were taken from a garbage can but won’t take your items, no matter how nice they are. The employees are also mediocre and judgmental.

This store should be called SheIn Exchange. I have encountered 1 Shein item per every 6 items. This is truly discouraging and leaves buyers, who are against fast fashion, with fewer options. I'm writing to request that you stop buying clothes from SheIn in all stores. Shein is a fast fashion company that pollutes the environment and has low quality materials. Buying Shein clothes from customers reinforces this chain of demand for their clothes.

from a buyer's perspective it's pretty good. the brookline location has a rather jolly group of employees that like to talk and have some striking fashion sense, i like them. it makes the environment much more friendly and as a queer person much more welcoming to see non conforming fashion worn by majority of employees. a lot of things tend to be stupidly overpriced, simple graphic tees and thin flannels can be like 15-20 bucks, thats why i'm knocking off a star. however ive found two pairs of converse that were in the 30-35 price range that were rather good condition, one seemingly never worn, that wouldve costed thrice the price if bought new at a converse store. similar case with vans, very good condition slip ons that couldve costed so much more if bought new. they've got a cute inventory, can usually always find one thing that i wanna take and they have plenty of dressing rooms to try them on, i do always suggest to try things on at stores like these. you never know what you might spot or how it might look on you specifically. if you have a simple fashion sense and are willing to spend the money on clothes like these i would reccomend.

Not the best place to sell quality clothing. Employees are nice but clueless ..they are more concerned about working easy hours than buying quality clothing. I brought 600$ suede jackets, made in Italy cashmere coats, wool sweaters. All in excellent condition. The guy who tried acting like a boss, was walking around telling people it's a long wait, and that you can also donate all those 300$-600$ jackets to charity. Its best to bring more of a second hand Kohl's, or Walmart store now. Hipster, junky stuff is their primary focus now . They used to have much nicer stuff on the shelves few years ago when in Allston. Salvation army these days. Employees dress like homeless bums. I mean employees are nice and polite but clearly don't know what they are doing. I sold these 3 jackets on Craigslist for 200$. I was looking for 200-300for entire collection of 40-50 designer pieces. The owner should incentivise an employees decision about buying a piece of clothing with a bonus. Good stuff sells fast, which means bonuses on top of per hour salary.

Questions & Answers

Do you need to make an appointment to sell clothes?

Erica Ishino | Dec 15, 2017
Nathaniel Arias-Velez | Dec 16, 2017

No. You can simply show up with your clothes. Most people show up when the store is about to open. It's a good idea to show up a couple of minutes early because many people do this and so there is a wait for your clothes to be seen and appraised. The wait is also dependent on whether you're showing up on a Wednesday morning versus a Saturday morning.
