As someone who fosters dogs through this organization, I have nothing but glowing reports about POMDR. The staff there is so compassionate; you couldn't find a more dedicated group of dog lovers. They make it easy for those of us who foster, which extends to potential adopters. Dogs get thoroughly checked over by a vet before they are adopted out, receive dentals, and even see specialists when necessary. They have a two week trial period in case for some reason the adoption doesn't work out. They specialize in dogs that are older, so some have health problems. Nevertheless, I would have no hesitation to adopt from them. February 2022 Since writing this review, we adopted a dog from POMDR. We started out fostering her, and ended up adopting. Dory had hair loss, an ear infection, and a yeast infection. The staff bent over backwards to help us, including several exams, allergy shots, meds, medicated shampoo, and a dental. Dory looks and feels so much better now!

(I'm not the one who chose the dog. My stupid fiance chose the dog simply because he thinks the dog is cute.) We returned the dog due to separation anxiety, resource guarding of my partner, and he is not accepting of pets from new people. Instead he bit them. And these new people were not rough in attempting to pet him - these people were experienced dog owners. The dog has also lunged at two kids walking down the street who didn't even attempt to get near him. Luckily he is a small dog, but imagine if he was a big dog. It's pretty dumb to adopt out a highly reactive dog to a first-time dog owner.
