Hello Quinn, Great question! The adoption process can take anywhere from six months to a couple of years. You must first foster the child and have them in your home for 90 days before starting the adoption process. There are a series of regulations such as background checks, home case studies, and a variety of court documents you must file to pursue an adoption. Hiring an attorney can help you navigate through all of that. An adoption is one of the most complex court proceedings and an attorney will greatly assist you in meeting your goals.
Hello Nate, To start the divorce process, you must file a summons and petition for divorce. These must also be served on the other party. There are a multitude of procedural and legal deadlines and strategies for a divorce, so you should consult with an attorney before filing these documents.
