I was shopping around last minute after unexpectedly needing a dog day care and Joyful Paws provided many different options to work with as a new customer. My dog can be timid with strangers but instantly warmed up to the staff and made me feel a ease. 10/10

**UPDATE: Well after 1 year, nearly $3,000 spent and referring numerous friends to Joyful Paws, my experience has changed. First, I will say my dog does always leave happy. He loves the staff and the staff love him back. I’ve always had a great experience with care and the front desk crew. My issue is with pricing and upper management. They haven’t been transparent about extra fees and cost. Their prices have gone up and they services offered have lessened. I often use late check out which I was initially told is $25. After my dog’s most recent stay I noticed 2 charges for late pick up. One for $25 and one for $28. I called for clarification and was told they actually charge $25 to REQUEST late check out and $28 for the “day care” since it’s after closing. I spoke with a manager and told them it just felt shady. She looked back at a previous late check out and saw that I was charged $25 the time before thus she could understand the confusion. Great. But that was really all that was said. It left a bad taste in my mouth after being so loyal to them. Especially coupled with the increased cost of boarding and the fact that they now charge extra to receive updates on how your dog is doing (very basic info like if they ate and went to the bathroom). They need to communicate cost when booking a stay over the phone because apparently even asking for the price doesn’t guarantee accurate info. ORIGINAL REVIEW from 1 year ago: My dog didn’t want to leave! I had never left my dog overnight and Joyful Paws made me feel really safe and reassured that my baby would be taken care of. The staff is just wonderful. They called to give me updates, sent pictures and have webcams you can check to see what they’re up to. I know he enjoyed his time there and didn’t even have a chance to miss me. I also felt good about the price. It can be expensive to board your dog but I felt that they provided great pricing options.

I wish I could give them 5 stars. As visitor from out of town I researched and had both phone & email communications prior to our stay to ensure we submit all documentation for the stay. Unfortunately, I have experienced multiple administrative challenges with bringing my dog here. The staff only notified me about certain vaccinations/shots but not all - by the time we arrived we were told about another vaccination required but I had no local care established (they gave me a two day grace period with numerous reminders to get the vaccine). The staff entering my payment information created multiple errors and charged my card FOUR times when it should have only been charged twice. I had requested a first time bath for my 6 month old pup on our last day and when calling to confirm he was ready for pick up was told "Oh, we're glad you called. We were going to tell you when you got here, but we were not able to bathe your dog." The reasons were completely understandable, but outreach to notify me would have been appreciated. I could not tell about the staff's level of engagement with the dogs - I am grateful for the cameras to be able to see the play yards when the dogs are out. The staff did not engage the dogs much - oftentimes sitting on their phones (though I know some is taking photos for the dogs report cards). I saw one staff member pet my dog in three days. The dogs are out in their respective play yards two times for two hours - unfortunately you aren't able to see the dogs or even what the conditions are like outside of the play yards. Jordan at the front desk was great! Jordan knew dogs by names and welcomed them in with pets. Thankfully, this was temporary for us. If I lived here, I would strongly consider researching other daycares as there were too many headaches during our short stay.
