I have several friends that have stayed at Second Chance, and I am very grateful there are supportive SLE's like this in the Bay Area. There is a structure and accountability involved with Second Chance that many other THU's (transitional housing units) and SLE's don't have. The house managers/assistant house managers that care and take time with house mates helps build compassion and trust with people that have forgotten what that feels like. House meetings for support, chores to build unity and responsibility, sobriety accountability; these are foundations to a lasting recovery and hard to develop living on your own in the early stages of recovery! I work in the field of addiction/recovery, and I wish all people had the knowledge and resources to access a safe and sober living environment like Second Chance provides. Second Chance, while it doesn't come at a cheap price, provides a strong foundation that can help the addict and/or alcoholic in early sobriety. Every little bit of insurance against relapse is an investment I encourage people to make. It really is an investment in your life and worth every penny.

When I needed help I came to Second Chance for the structure and accountability and that's exactly what I've received. Management has been fair and objective and most importantly consistent in there guidelines and requirements. I've felt safe and more importantly I've felt comfortable. I have been able to use Second Chance as the foundation on which I've been able to build my recovery and am coming up on a year.
